Report – Sassuolo Defender Could Join Inter Milan In January To Replace Dutch Veteran

Sassuolo center-back Tarik Muharemovic could reportedly join Inter Milan in the upcoming transfer window.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Bosnian star could reinforce Cristian Chivu’s defense in January.

Muharemovic’s versatility has caught Beppe Marotta’s eye, with the Nerazzurri identifying him as a concrete target.

However, Inter must overcome bitter rivals Juventus in the race for the 22-year-old’s signature.

Indeed, the Turin giants are keen to bring the in-demand defender back to the Allianz Stadium.

Inter Milan Keen to Sign Tarik Muharemovic in January

The 20-time Serie A champions appreciate Tarik Muharemovic for two reasons.

For starters, the ex-Juventus starlet could be a reliable alternative to Alessandro Bastoni on the left side.

Then, he can also perform at the heart of the defense.

Yet, Inter must first offload Stefan de Vrij to make room for the Sassuolo ace’s arrival.

De Vrij’s contract expires in the summer.

However, the Dutch veteran is keen to play for the Netherlands at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Therefore, he could force his winter exit to secure regular first-team football elsewhere.
