Sassuolo have seen their efforts to sign Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan this summer hit a roadblock.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that Villarreal are still interested in signing the Canadian permanently.
Tajon Buchanan is once again an Inter Milan player after the end of his loan spell at Villarreal.
The Canadian international left the Nerazzurri on loan during the January transfer window. Villarreal had an option to sign him on a permanent basis, but have not exercised it.
Buchanan may be back at Inter. But he hardly has a place in the Nerazzurri’s plans for next season.
Therefore, Inter are working to sell the 26-year-old once and for all this summer.
A few clubs showed an interest in signing Buchanan this summer.
Brentford and Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly have reportedly eyed up a deal.
And then, newly-promoted Serie A club Sassuolo have reportedly made an attempt to sign Buchanan this summer.
The Neroverdi are obviously looking to bolster their squad for their return to the top flight. And Buchanan looked to be an opportunity.
However, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the talks between Sassuolo and Inter have tailed off.
In fact, Villarreal also look to be in a better position to sign Buchanan now.
