Tottenham Hotspur has been linked with a surprise move for the Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Real Madrid are interested in the 24-year-old as well. He is currently one of the best midfielders in the league, and the 2022 World Cup winner could prove to be an excellent acquisition for most teams.
Chelsea paid in excess of £100 million for the midfielder, and they will not want to let him leave easily. It seems highly unlikely that Tottenham will look to spend a premium on him. There is no doubt that Spurs need someone who can control the tempo of the game from the deep and add more creativity to the side, but Fernandez would be a very expensive option for them.
In addition to that, Chelsea will not want to sell the player to their London rivals. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. The move to Real Madrid makes a lot more sense for the Argentine international.
There is no doubt that he has the tools to develop into a world-class player, and he could improve Tottenham immensely. However, the transfer seems unrealistic. The midfielder is showing his quality in the Premier League every week, and he will look to take on a different challenge if he decides to leave Chelsea. The move to La Liga could be more appealing for him.
Also, he will look to join a club that he will be able to fight for Champions League trophies and the league title. While there is no doubt that Tottenham have an exciting project and they have shown tremendous improvement, they are not quite at the level required to fight for the Champions League or the league title regularly.
