Inter Milan have decided to keep Davide Frattesi at the club because he suits the 3-4-2-1 formation that Cristian Chivu wants to play,

This according to Sky Sport Italia, via FCInter1908. They confirm that the Nerazzurri’s intention is to try and tie the 25-year-old down on a new deal.

In something of a surprising turn of events, Inter Milan look to be ready to keep Davide Frattesi at the club.

For months, it had seemed all but inevitable that Frattesi would leave the club this summer.

And had Simone Inzaghi stayed on as coach, that would have been the case. There was a rift between he and Frattesi.

However, Inzaghi decided to leave Inter in search of big money at Al-Hilal. Cristian Chivu arrived to replace him on the Inter bench.

Inter Milan Keeping Davide Frattesi For Tactical Reasons

And Chivu looks to be ready to make some tactical changes at Inter Milan.

Whilst the 44-year-old looks set to keep the back three that Inzaghi had used, he will not play with a midfield trio necessarily as the previous coach had.

Rather, Chivu is aiming to implement a 3-4-2-1 formation.

And that means that the Romanian will rely on different profiles of midfielders.

Whilst Frattesi can play in a midfield trio, there are certain deficiencies in his game which meant that he struggled in Inzaghi’s midfield trio.

On the other hand, the former Sassuolo midfielder could really thrive playing in an attacking midfield role in a 3-4-2-1 system.

Therefore, reports Sky, Inter will keep Davide Frattesi. And in fact, they are even ready to try and negotiate a new contract with the Italian international.
