Inter Milan signed French midfielder Andy Diouf from Lens in the final days of the summer transfer window to bolster their midfield options.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri did not pick the 22-year-old randomly.

After only two years at Lens, Andy Diouf left his homeland, joining the San Siro giants on a multi-year contract.

Furthermore, Cristian Chivu’s side splashed out around €20 million to secure the youngster’s services.

Why Inter Milan Landed Andy Diouf

In addition to Diouf, Inter signed Petar Sucic from Dinamo Zagreb.

But unlike the Frenchman, the 21-year-old has quickly established himself as a regular first-team fixture.

On the other hand, Diouf has only made one late cameo appearance so far.

Indeed, Chivu gave him 11 minutes in a 5-0 thumping of Torino in the opening Serie A round.

Since then, he has spent every minute on the bench.

However, there’s plenty of time for Diouf to earn Chivu’s trust and climb up the ladder at San Siro.

Furthermore, he is the only left-footed midfielder at the Romanian’s disposal.

That unique quality gives him a clear pathway to stake a claim for a regular spot in the middle of the park.
