FC Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-0 at the San Mames stadium in their final game of the season. Robert Lewandowski scored a brace, showcasing the impact he has had since his arrival in the summer of 2023.

With his two goals, he reached 101 goals for FC Barcelona, but he also broke a difficult record that most players are unable to achieve. The Polish striker becomes the first player who is 36 or older to score 27 goals in a La Liga season.

He overtook the legendary striker Ferenc Puskas, who in 1963 scored 26 goals in a La Liga season when he was 36 years old. The Hungarian striker played for Real Madrid and is considered one of the greatest goal scorers of all time.

Lewandowski's brace was not enough to earn him the La Liga Golden Boot, as he was four off from the winner, Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe. The French striker officially won the Pichichi trophy by scoring 31 league goals; he also won the European Golden Boot.

More Robert Lewandowski records

While the game between Athletic Bilbao and FC Barcelona had nothing on the line, Lewandowski's goals set records for himself and for the Catalan club, which showcases the season they had.

Lewandowski becomes the 22nd player in the history of FC Barcelona to reach 100 goals in official competitions. He officially has 101 goals for the club after today's brace.

The Polish striker became the fifth quickest Barcelona player to score 100 goals for the club in all competitions. He scored 101 goals for Barcelona in 147 appearances across all competitions.

Lewandowski also showcases his legendary trajectory across Europe by reaching 100-plus goals for FC Barcelona. This is the third club Lewandowski has scored over 100 goals for. He scored 103 goals for Borussia Dortmund and 344 goals for Bayern Munich.

FC Barcelona's Historic 2024-25 season

FC Barcelona won a domestic treble and a double that will be memorable for its fans. After the win against Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona became the first team in the top five leagues of Europe to score over 100 goals; they scored a total of 102 league goals.

This is the first time Barcelona has scored over 100 goals in a La Liga season since the 2016-17 season under Luis Enrique. In that season, FC Barcelona scored 116 goals.

Barcelona also scored 40 goals from set-pieces this season, which is a record the club has had in the past. In the 2011-12 season, Barcelona also scored 40 goals from set-pieces.

The season comes to an end for FC Barcelona. They will not participate in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup and will wait for the new season that is set to start in mid-August.
