Roberto De Zerbi has had an intense ride in Ligue 1 with Marseille, thriving last season, before now being without a club.

Last month it was announced that De Zerbi has left the manager role with the French club sitting in fourth, now looking for his next side.

The 46-year-old joined Marseille after success with Brighton and Hove Albion, with a return to the Premier League now on the cards.

The Telegraph has reported that Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be having internal conversations about hiring De Zerbi in the summer if they survive the drop.

Currently sat in 16th place, only a point above the relegation zone, Spurs hired Igor Tudor after the sacking of Thomas Frank, however it hasn’t exactly gone to plan.

Now, the Italian manager is being considered by the London-based club to lead them next season.

That said, the report also revealed that Roberto De Zerbi is in fact keen on joining Manchester United, with the club looking for a new permanent manager as well.

After Ruben Amorim was sacked in January, in the same way Spurs appointed Tudor as a caretaker manager, United appointed Michael Carrick.

The initial intention was to hire Carrick until the end of the season, with a new permanent manager coming in in the summer.

As such, Roberto De Zerbi is understood to be one of the candidates on The Red Devils’ shortlist, with the Old Trafford side admiring his attacking style.

However after the success of Carrick’s tenure so far, the former United midfielder is putting forward a strong case to be kept on.

For now, the door is still wide open though, meaning De Zerbi could well be in the running to land a move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.
