It’s reportedly just a matter of time until Roma announce Florent Ghisolfi as their new head of football. He has informed Nice about his desire to move to the Italian capital and asked to be let go, Il Messaggero informed.

His team probably won’t stand in his way. The new exec will work shoulder-to-shoulder with Daniele De Rossi. He has received reassurances about the project by owner Dan Friedkin. The Giallorossi have a looming settlement agreement to complete by June 30th. On the other hand, they might not need to record as many ‘plusvalenze’ as previously anticipated since they increased their revenues in the past calendar year.

Ghisolfi is set to bring some changes to Roma compared to the Tiago Pinto era. He’ll focus on signing youngsters who could potentially generate profits down the line. A few veterans will be on their way out. Chris Smalling is among them after a challenging season injury-wise even though he has another year on his contract. Most of the loanees won’t stay put.

De Rossi wouldn’t mind retaining Leonardo Spinazzola, whose deal will run out soon, but his recent thigh injury doesn’t help his case. Ghisolfi will have to find a new home for a few Roma outcasts who have flattered to deceive, such as Rick Karsdrop, Zeki Celik, and Houssem Aoaur. He has earmarked Edon Zhegrova as an early target to bolster the attack, which will need to be retooled following a midseason tactical switch.
