Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi failed to impress in a rare start as the Nerazzurri eased past Royale Union SG last night.
According to the Italian press via L’Interista, the 26-year-old looked ‘confused’ on the pitch.
Inter manager Cristian Chivu handed the former Sassuolo star his first Champions League start of the season.
Indeed, Davide Frattesi took Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s place in the starting lineup.
However, despite Inter’s statement 4-0 win, the Italy international failed to seize the opportunity.
Frattesi even got the nod ahead of Croatia starlet Petar Sucic.
Yet, limited first-team opportunities this season seemingly took a toll on the Italian midfielder.
Indeed, Frattesi often looked confused on the field. Bereft of confidence, he struggled to retain possession and establish a sense of comfort during play.
If it’s any consolation, he grew into the contest in the later stages, even spurning a decent scoring chance.
His constant runs between the lines created havoc for Royale Union’s backline as the game approached the final whistle.
