Amir Rrahmani has left international duty with Kosovo after picking up an injury and will be evaluated by Napoli, as Sam Beukema prepares to step in.

The central defender limped off during the 4-0 defeat to Switzerland on Friday evening in their 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

He sustained a muscular issue and the Kosovo medical staff decided he was not going to be fit in time to face Sweden in their next fixture.

Napoli look to Beukema after Rrahmani setback

Rrahmani was therefore sent back to his club, so Napoli will put him through tests before deciding on a course of action.

It remains highly unlikely that he will be ready for the next Serie A fixture against Fiorentina on Saturday September 13.

With that in mind, Antonio Conte is set to launch Beukema for his first start in the Napoli jersey since the transfer from Bologna.

Alessandro Buongiorno is another alternative, as he is still working his way back to full fitness after groin surgery in July.

The Partenopei are already missing Miguel Gutierrez, David Neres and Romelu Lukaku.
