Ruben Amorim will have no shortage of academy options to turn to this season, with the club’s youth setup continues to produce plenty of talent.

In recent years, Carrington has consistently developed players ready to step into the first team and make an impact.

Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo, Chido Obi, Harry Amass, Tyler Fredricson and Toby Collyer have all come through in the past three seasons and established themselves as part of the senior squad.

That trend looks set to continue under Amorim. He has already handed out three academy debuts in his first six months in charge, a clear signal to other young players that opportunities are there for those who impress.

This pre-season, several more names are pushing their case. Bendito Mantato and Shea Lacey have caught the eye in training sessions. Amorim is said to be impressed by both youngsters.

While they’re two of the most talked-about prospects at Carrington right now, another name from past discussions about emerging stars is making a quiet return: Ethan Ennis.

While he might not be the most high-profile name in the academy, there’s no doubt Ethan Williams has fans within the club.

Williams was once seen as a bright prospect on the wing, but over time he’s slipped down the pecking order as younger players have moved ahead of him. Still, this week he’s been given another chance to impress.

The club shared footage from training showing Williams involved in drills with the senior squad.

The session saw him paired with Bruno Fernandes, where they used a speed resister – a drill designed to build strength and explosiveness by having one player hold back another who is running in the opposite direction.

Ethan Williams linked with summer move to Europe

A year ago, Ethan Williams was highlighted as a player to watch in 2024. Now, it appears he’s starting to live up to that early promise.

This progress hasn’t gone unnoticed. According to Ben Jacobs, both Anderlecht and Club Brugge are interested in bringing him over from Manchester United this summer.

Both clubs are known for developing young talent, but no advanced talks have taken place yet. Williams’ future remains uncertain, though earning minutes under Amorim hasn’t been ruled out.
