Newly-appointed West Brom boss Ryan Mason tipped to make loan move for Tottenham prodigy Mikey Moore

Tottenham Hotspur have a big decision to make on the future of their head coach Ange Postecoglou.

Despite guiding the club to their first piece of silverware after more than 17 years, the Australian remains on thin ice at N17. With Spurs having qualified for the Champions League via Europa League success and looking ahead to a summer of change, Ange Postecoglou could pay the price for his team’s wretched domestic form this past season.

They finished a lowly 17th in the table, which is simply unacceptable for a club of Tottenham’s size and stature. However, before a decision on Postecoglou has been taken, the Spurs head coach has already lost one of the members of his coaching staff.

Ryan Mason has left White Hart Lane to become West Bromwich Albion’s head coach, signing a three-year deal. The Championship club opened talks with Ryan Mason last week and have quickly agreed terms to appoint him as Tony Mowbray’s successor. This brings a seven-year coaching career at Tottenham to an end for the 33-year-old, who made 70 first-team appearances for the Lilywhites after progressing through the club’s youth ranks.

Following his appointment, Mason may look to use his fantastic relationship with Spurs to try and get a couple of their players onboard at West Brom. One of those could be academy starlet Mikey Moore.

Mikey Moore enjoyed a breakout season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But a bad virus stunted his development midway through the campaign, keeping him out of action for more than three months.

When fit, the teenager made an impact throughout the club’s Europa League campaign, netting a goal and supplying an assist across five appearances. On top of that, the fearless winger also managed 10 Premier League outings. With Tottenham planning to make big changes to the squad ahead of their Champions League adventure, Mikey Moore could be tempted to leave his boyhood club on loan next season to continue his development.

Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham feels Moore could be one of some Tottenham players who could follow Mason to West Brom this summer.

“Moore could even follow Mason to West Brom; that is a move I could see happening. A lot of discussions could come from Mason joining West Brom,” John Wenham exclusively told Tottenham News.

Moore will likely have to fight for his place in the Tottenham first XI next season, with chairman Daniel Levy eyeing attacking reinforcements. The England youth international’s development could be stunted again if he continues to be on the bench and only operates as a squad option. While he is still raw, the winger has shown flashes of potential in a Tottenham shirt that should encourage the Hotspur Way bosses to send him out on loan.

A season-long loan to West Brom could work well for Moore after Mason’s appointment. Mason has worked with the teenage prodigy and would have an idea of getting the best out of him at the Hawthorns if a move materialises.

Thus, if there is an opportunity for a temporary move for Moore to the Baggies, Spurs must not hesitate to sanction.
