James Forrest is set to visit Bobby Lennox this week after surpassing the Lisbon Lion’s trophy count to become Celtic’s most decorated player of all time…
Lennox secured 25 major trophies during his trophy-laden era at Celtic, but Saturday’s Scottish Premiership title victory pushed Forrest’s total to 26. This marked Jamsey’s 13th league title, adding to his seven Scottish Cup triumphs and six Scottish League Cup victories.
“I’ve met Bobby Lennox a few times at games”
Forrest is set to meet Bobby Lennox, who, like the experienced winger, also comes from Ayrshire, in the next few days. He said: “I’ve met Bobby Lennox a few times at games and stuff, and I am planning to go and see him this week as well.”
“I have met him a few times at games and stuff. People say that I have gone beyond him. At this club, it is not about one player or two players, it is so many players, it is the fans, the staff you don’t see behind the scenes and all of that as well; there are so many people you can credit.
“I have met his family, and they are all so humble, and I think that stands you in good stead for players coming through.”
Forrest still needs that magical goal this season
James Forrest is still hunting for a goal this season to extend his record to 16 consecutive years of scoring for Celtic. With five matches left in the season, it’s hard to bet against the 33-year-old achieving that feat.
Forrest and his teammates head to Ibrox this weekend for the final Glasgow derby of the season. “It’s so important [to win next weekend],” said Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers speaking to the media post-match on Saturday after Celtic wrapped up yet another title.
“(the)Rangers were very good in the first half when we played them at Celtic Park. We were too slow. The comfort in the game was not good. In the second half, we were much better. Celtic vs (the)Rangers, no matter what it is, (the)Rangers Celtic, it means everything. So we need to go and perform next week again. But we can get those messages through during the week.”

If the decision is based only on the Premier League results, then it might have been the right decision as the Lilywhites finished just a place above the relegation zone. But winning trophies is the only thing that matters in football… and Big Ange managed to do just that at N17 this year. The ex-Celtic boss had promised the fans earlier in the season that he always won a trophy in his second season at a club. It is fair to say that he walked the talk and delivered on that promise in spectacular fashion. The North London club exceeded all expectations and won the Europa League, ensuring Champions League qualification along with it. Huge problems ahead for Tottenham as players are unhappy with the sack news Well, it is fair to say that the decision of sacking Ange Postecoglou has not gone down well with the fans and the players. Some players have taken to social media to thank Big Ange for his contributions to the club and there is a social media revolt against Daniel Levy amongst fans. The departure of the Australian tactician has dampened the mood around N17 just two weeks after the club won the Europa League. As per The Telegraph, Tottenham players are ‘unhappy’ with the sack news and there is a possibility that the dressing room might revolt against Daniel Levy. It is also believed that some players might want to leave the club following Big Ange’s departure. The aforementioned report also suggests that the Australian kept the dressing room together when the media was scrutinising the players week in week out. Many players had publicly backed Ange Postecoglou to turn the fortunes around at the club following the Europa League success. The ex-Celtic boss was also keen to continue at the club and made it clear during the trophy parade that ‘season three’ would be better than the previous two seasons. However, Daniel Levy thought otherwise and killed off the main character before season three even began. One can only feel sorry for the new manager that will takeover the reigns at N17. It was reported earlier that Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the leading candidate to replace Ange Postecoglou. Frank will have a huge task of getting the fans and the players back on board before the start of the new season. And Daniel Levy will also hope that the decision to appoint a new manager works out well as Spurs look to start a new era at Hotspur Way.
Green Bay Packers: Jordan Love’s Action Causes Teammate to Get Yanked From Drill
It appears that Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is getting better at one area, particularly when it comes to the hard count. He had success last week with his hard count when he got both Nate Hobbs and Edgerrin Cooper jumping on separate occasions. Love, who is entering his third season as the Packers’ full-time starting quarterback, continues to work on his game and polish areas where improvements can be made, and mastering the hard count seems like one of the items he is focused on in the training camp. It can also be recalled that he talked about the hard count back in the 2023 OTAs as an “emphasis that I’ve been trying to just build and keep working.” Green Bay offense takes friendly fire over Love’s hard count On Monday, Love drew another offside because of his hard count, but not at the expense of the defense. Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic: “Love got Hobbs to jump with his hard count last week. On Monday, Love got another Packers newcomer to jump on the hard count. The only problem for Love is that it was his own left guard. Banks flinched right before defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt and was booted from the drill for Jacob Monk.” Getting familiar with Love’s cadence is a challenge for the Packers’ offensive line, as the team definitely doesn’t want to see the QBs hard counts resulting in penalties for the offense instead of seeing the same intended result for the opposing defense.
Report: Bengals draw hard line in Trey Hendrickson contract talks
Cincinnati Bengals star defensive end Trey Hendrickson has been holding out from training camp as he seeks a new contract, and it does not sound like the two sides are all that close to a deal. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said on "SportsCenter" Monday that there has been "some progress" in negotiations between the Bengals and Hendrickson's representatives over the past week or so. The real disagreement has to do with guaranteed money, and Cincinnati's brass is not budging. "Hendrickson wants a stronger guaranteed structure, particularly later in what should be a multiyear deal. In talking to people with the Bengals they feel like, 'Hey, we've probably relented as far as we can go.' So this is a classic stare-off right now, and it's time to buckle up," Fowler said, via Andrew Peters of Bleacher Report. Hendrickson is set to earn $16M in base salary in the final year of his contract this season. He recently said he has shown a willingness to take less than market value on a new deal, but the Bengals do not want to guarantee him money beyond the 2026 season. Based on what he has said, the 30-year-old Hendrickson is not seeking to become the highest-paid defensive player in football. In order to accomplish that, he would have to top the three-year, $123M extension T.J. Watt signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Hendrickson had 35 sacks over the past two seasons, which was the most in the NFL during that span. He had 17.5 sacks each season and finished second in NFL Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2024. The Bengals took care of one major offseason issue on Sunday when they finally signed first-round pick Shemar Stewart to a rookie deal. All it will take is one side to budge in the team's ongoing stalemate with Hendrickson, but all parties seem to be dug in as training camp rolls on.
Could wheeler-dealer Yankees replace Anthony Volpe at shortstop?
The New York Yankees, who recently traded for infielders Ryan McMahon and Amed Rosario, are in the market for another infielder, the New York Post's Joel Sherman reported Monday. Per Sherman, the ideal player is “a right-handed hitter with the ability to play shortstop if necessary.” If true, this might have implications for current New York shortstop Anthony Volpe. The Yankees’ former top prospect has struggled at the plate and in the field this season, hitting .215/.285/.403 with 14 home runs and -3 outs above average and totaling 13 errors. Adding another infielder would almost certainly mean the Yankees have other plans for Volpe. Sherman reported Yankees GM Brian Cashman placed calls to the Tampa Bay Rays about utilitymen Ha-Seong Kim (.226 BA in 31 at-bats this season), José Caballero (.227 BA) and Taylor Walls (.218 BA). The most intriguing of those names is Kim, who started the season on the IL and recently landed there again. But Kim can be a difference-maker. His batting average has declined from its peak of .260 in 2023 (though still better than Volpe’s), but his on-base percentage is solid (.326 for his career). His defense also is top notch — he won a Gold Glove in 2023 at second base with the San Diego Padres and three Golden Gloves in the KBO, the South Korea pro league. The two other utilitymen Sherman mentioned are replacement-level players. Of the three, Kim comes with the least club control — he holds a player option for next season and will be an unconditional free agent after 2026. At .500 entering play Monday, the Rays (53-53) could be sellers or buyers at the Thursday trade deadline (6 p.m. Eastern). Tampa Bay is fourth in the AL East, but it is just three games out of a wild-card spot. If the Rays aren't sellers, the Yankees could also explore deals for utilitymen Willi Castro of the Minnesota Twins or Isiah Kiner-Falefa of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kiner-Falefa played for the Yankees in 2022 and 2023.
