It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea were interested in signing Samu Omorodion. The deal is now set to take place later this evening. The famous ‘Here we go’ has been already reported by the current most reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.
A proposed swap of Conor Gallagher and Samu Omorodion is most likely to happen. Conor Gallagher will switch the blue of Chelsea with the white & red of Atletico Madrid and vice versa for Samu Omorodion. It has been reported that both the clubs have reached an agreement.
Samu Omorodion is currently with the Spanish U-20 team in the Paris Olympics. He is set to face France in the final clash. A possible win will boost the motivation to a certainly high extent for the youngster just before joining a new project when Conor Gallagher’s deal is completed which permits him to join the team camp very soon.
Chelsea have been looking for a potential striker replacement from the last season. Nicolas Jackson proving out to be a responsible player after his move to Chelsea last season from the Spanish side Villarreal. The hunt for a substitute for Jackson was still on, but now it seems that the gap has been filled. Omorodion, whose contract at Atletico runs until 2028, joined the Spanish team from Granada in 2023 but spent last season on loan at Alaves. He scored eight goals in thirty-five matches for Alaves. The Spanish youngster is yet to feature in the Atletico side under Diego Simeone.
Omorodion’s role in the upcoming season at Chelsea will be to come out as a substitute to Nicolas Jackson and battle it out for his place in the starting line-up. He will have to utilize those few minutes given to him at the end of every match until he gains a sense of being a leader and a responsibility taker. Under Enzo Maresca’s reign, it is going to be difficult for him to retain his position on the team sheet. Hard work along with the talent he possesses, will be the key factor for him to make his place in the star-studded team of the blue.
Samu Omorodion will cost around 40 million euros to Chelsea, which includes five million bonuses and also add-ons. Conor Gallagher also lies somewhere in the same range, like 35 million euros or so. The clubs will very soon reach a concrete agreement.
Omorodion’s main focus remains on international duty in the Paris Olympics as of now, but the situation will soon conclude once every single thing is finalized. The transfer window remains open till the 30th of August for Chelsea.
