Sandro Tonali has formed a key part of Newcastle United’s midfield since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2023.

Since joining the Toon, the midfielder has made 94 times, scoring seven times, helping Eddie Howe’s side to progress.

Meanwhile, looking at this season specifically, Tonali has featured 37 times, providing four assists.

These statistics, both recent and prolonged, have attracted the attention of clubs across England, who are looking to improve their squad and, subsequently, their chances of success.

One of these sides is Arsenal, who held talks with Newcastle over the possibility of signing the midfielder on deadline day.

Now, Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Italian international with Mike McGrath reporting that the Red Devils have put the midfielder high on their shortlist, via The Telegraph.

Tonali has been at the centre of attention since comments by the midfielder’s agent, Giuseppe Riso, who stated: “Newcastle are having a hard time letting go of Sandro, and he wants to lead the club to the Champions League,” when speaking to TuttoSport.

Riso also explained: “We’ll evaluate and decide what to do in the summer. These transfer discussions will take place later. We’ll see how the season ends and then we’ll decide what to do.

“There’s no preference. It’s still early. What we’re saying today won’t apply tomorrow.

“Newcastle couldn’t let him go now, and there’s no point moving, especially since Sandro is very attached to the club.”

United are set to lose Casemiro at the end of this campaign, with the Brazilian international making his decision last month.

With this in mind, Michael Carrick’s side could look towards Sandro Tonali as a potential replacement for Casemiro.

However, with months to go until the summer, nothing may be decided yet.
