Maurizio Sarri admits he’ll ‘definitely argue’ over Lazio transfer activity this summer and predicts Como coach Cesc Fabregas will be ‘at a top club’ in a few years.

Lazio coach Sarri spoke to Il Messaggero as he prepares to begin his second spell at the Stadio Olimpico.

Sarri on Lazio transfers and Derby della Capitale

The first question was about the derby, but the Tuscan didn’t seem impressed.

“Don’t start talking to me about the Derby or I’ll faint. It’s a beautiful match, but devastating. A clash between two fan bases drains your soul,” he said via TMW.

“I’m coming back with the same spirit as before, and I’ll definitely argue over the transfer market; I won’t settle. I come with some demands, knowing that I’ll face the same frustration. A different attitude would be worrying.

Sarri makes Fabregas prediction

“I have to meet with sporting director Fabiani next week. He’ll bring ideas and names, and I’ll get mine. I’ve already said it’s important that if a defender is coming, he needs to arrive now. We’re definitely short in midfield for a 4-3-3.”

Lazio won’t participate in any European competition, but this doesn’t mean the 2025-26 Serie A season will be easier for them.

“Not at all. The competition is fierce,” said Sarri.

“I don’t believe Bologna will finish 9th and Milan 8th. Now, Como are entering the mix too. In a few years, you’ll see Fabregas at a top European club.”
