Yves Bissouma set for Tottenham Hotspur exit after falling out of favour under Thomas Frank

Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is still at N17 despite being linked away from the club throughout the summer. The Mali international has fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Frank, with the Danish tactician also banishing him from the squad for Spurs’ game against PSG earlier last month.

It is fair to say that the 28-year-old has struggled to live up to the expectations following his switch from Brighton in 2022. And the Mali international has struggled to perform consistently while donning the Lilywhite jersey under various managers. However, Bissouma deserves huge credit for playing an important part in helping Spurs win the Europa League last season.

Due to the injury crisis at the North London club during the latter stages of the season, the ex-Brighton man was tasked to play in midfield by Ange Postecoglou. And it is fair to say that he was one of the standout players in the squad as they cruised past opponents in the Europa League, eventually helping the Lilywhites end their long-standing trophy drought.

Tottenham could still manage to sell Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma has been on the fringes of leaving N17 for quite some time now. It was reported earlier that the Mali international was linked with a move to Galatasaray last month, with both clubs agreeing on a transfer fee as well. But the Turkish giants pulled away at the eleventh-hour after reporting concerns about the 28-year-old’s ‘physical issues.’

However, there is still time for Bissouma to find a new club in the coming days thanks to the Turkish and Saudi transfer window remaining open beyond September 1. And as per GiveMeSport, a few Saudi and Turkish clubs have enquired about the Mali international again as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Selling the 28-year-old should be a no-brainer for Tottenham. The midfielder is already entering the last year of his current contract, and the Lilywhites might lose him on a free transfer next year if they do not sell him in the coming days. Described as ‘ridiculous’ by teammate James Maddison, Bissouma has failed to showcase his talents at N17 consistently. And that has forced the North London club to sell him despite not having signed a new midfielder in the summer.

Now, all eyes will be on what the future holds for the 28-year-old as he looks to rejuvenate his career at a different club. He may be a Spurs player for the time being, but there is almost an acceptance around N17 that he is going to leave the club. But it is fair to say that the Mali international will have all the Tottenham fans’ best wishes for his contributions during their Europa League run.
