Scott Minto urges patience for Thomas Frank amid Daniel Levy signing influence debate at Spurs

Thomas Frank has been receiving a lot of criticism from the fans for Tottenham’s poor performances and results.

Thomas Frank is coming under increasing pressure to be sacked at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dane was appointed as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement in the dugout back in June by Daniel Levy, who abruptly left the executive chairman role at the start of September after holding the position for 25 long years. Thomas Frank had done a fantastic job at Brentford for more than six years, helping the club gain promotion and establishing them in the Premier League.

Impressed with his work at Brentford, Daniel Levy decided to hire the 52-year-old after sacking Ange Postecoglou, despite the Greek-Australian tactician winning the Europa League trophy last season. The 2025 summer transfer window was Levy’s last as the club’s chairman, and the Lilywhites spent big on the signings of Mathys Tel, Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus. The likes of Joao Palhinha and Randal Kolo Muani also arrived at N17 on loan.

However, barring Kudus, the summer signings have failed to make the kind of impact at Tottenham that the fans were hoping to see.

Scott Minto urges Tottenham to be patient with Thomas Frank

Thomas Frank hasn’t been helped after Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat against Liverpool in yet another loss at home this term. Xavi Simons and Cristian Romero were sent off against Liverpool, as the Tottenham gaffer had little control over his players’ poor decisions and petulant actions.

The poor performances and results from mid-October have seen the north Londoners drop from fifth in the table to an alarming 14th now. A large section of the fanbase has become frustrated with the gaffer’s tactics, style of play, poor in-game management and inability to get the best out of players, thereby demanding that the board sack the Dane.

However, talkSPORT pundit Scott Minto thinks differently. He wants the Tottenham board to be patient with Frank and give him time to rebuild the squad, as he is not sure the signings the club made in the summer had his input or were purely “Levy’s signings,” a hint at a signing influence debate.

“He hasn’t been given time. I mean, look, let’s be honest. He hasn’t even had a window where there’s no Daniel Levy, and we don’t know if those people being bought are Daniel Levy signings or Thomas Frank signings,” Scott Minto said on talkSPORT show.

Frank must get time at Tottenham

Frank was highly rated at Brentford due to his ability to get the best out of players, tactics, flexibility and in-game management. Thus, there was a lot of buzz and excitement when Tottenham announced him as their new head coach six months ago. However, the 52-year-old has not got Spurs playing an expansive, aggressive brand of football, while his pragmatic approach isn’t getting him positive results anymore.

Despite everything, Tottenham must give Frank time to steady the ship before the club can truly compete for major honours. Our loyal and passionate fans may need to remain patient during this period of transition and provide the gaffer with support to build the squad as per his own vision.
