Ivan Zazzaroni has ignited debate around the Scudetto race, arguing that only Cristian Chivu and his Inter Milan and Napoli can truly contend for the title this season.

Speaking to TMW Radio after Napoli’s heavy 6-2 defeat against PSV Eindhoven, the Corriere dello Sport director offered a pointed defence of Christian Chivu’s work while playing down Milan’s credentials.

The journalist reflected on the difficulties emerging in Napoli’s camp under Antonio Conte, claiming that slow adaptation from key signings is limiting progress.

“Conte doesn’t see adaptation from some players… the slow integration of De Bruyne forces him into a different system,” he said, via FCInterNews.

For Zazzaroni, a win over Inter would be enough for Napoli to reset the narrative but the doubts remain.

‘Inter Milan Are Stronger’ – Praise For Chivu In Scudetto Race

Turning to Inter, Zazzaroni rejected the idea that the squad has weakened, insisting the team has improved through targeted additions and the development of its depth.

“You have two excellent forwards behind Lautaro and Thuram, Akanji has grown, the team is stronger. Explain to me why it should be weaker?” he argued.

He then backed Chivu’s work and communication skills despite his limited senior experience.

On Milan, Zazzaroni was firm.

He praised the job done so far but dismissed their Scudetto ambitions.

“For me, still no… they are over-performing. Napoli and Inter would have to collapse for them to win,” he said.
