Second Manchester United star injured during PSG game

Manchester United are facing Paris Saint Germain today as Michael Carrick’s side continue their preparations for the upcoming season.

The Red Devils were locked at one apiece with last season’s Champions League winners following the first-half, where Bryan Mbeumo scored for United.

Mason Mount had to be substituted during the half, however, with what looks to be an injury, and was replaced by Tyler Fletcher.

Mount, who has had injury problems at United previously, spent a large period during last season out with an injury, hindering the side’s depth in midfield.

Now goalkeeper Tom Heaton has also had to be substituted with what looks to be another injury for Michael Carrick’s side.

The goalkeeper has been replaced by Dermont Mee for the remainder of the game.

Heaton signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United earlier this summer, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

He may spend some of his year on the treatment table now, however, as he undergoes treatment and recovers from the sustained injury.

It remains to be seen what the severity of the injury is and how much time it will take the goalkeeper to recover from it.

For Manchester United, two injuries in one game may raise concerns ahead of the new Premier League season starting in a matter of weeks.

Benjamin Sesko is already out injured, although is expected to return next week, whilst both Senne Lammens and Matheus Cunha were absent from the match-day squad for the PSG game.

United are due to face Hull City on Saturday August 22nd at MKM Stadium in their first game of the Premier League season but will face both Leeds United and AC Milan prior to that match in their final two pre-season games.
