Jens Odgaard cancelled out the Gustav Isaksen opener, as Lazio and Bologna played a 1-1 draw, with Mario Gila sent off for dissent.

Curiously, these teams won in the Coppa Italia midweek and will meet each other in the quarter-finals. They were both also coming off Serie A defeats, as the Rossoblu had the chance to go into joint third place before a shock 3-1 home loss to Cremonese. Martin Vitik joined Remo Freuler, Lukasz Skorupski and Nicolò Casale on the treatment table, while Lazio missed Nicolò Rovella, Samuel Gigot and Elseid Hysaj. Luca Pellegrini was given time off, as his wife was in labour.

It was an emotional evening for Ciro Immobile, who returned as an opponent for the first time since leaving Lazio and was visibly moved as he saluted the fans, hugged his former teammates, and received a framed shirt with pictures of his greatest moments for the club. The family of former Lazio player and Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was also in the stadium.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Riccardo Orsolini robbed Nuno Tavares in the opening 45 seconds, and his finish skimmed the base of the near post, while Federico Ravaglia had to stick out a boot to parry the Gustav Isaksen strike from the edge of the area.

The hosts almost gifted a goal to Bologna on the half-hour mark when Adam Marusic’s misplaced pass was intercepted by Jens Odgaard inside the box, but Ivan Provedel parried with his leg. Moments later, the goalkeeper got down to push away the Tommaso Pobega snapshot from the edge of the area.

Bologna were down to 10 men while Nicolò Casale was injured and waiting for Lorenzo De Silvestri to come on when Lazio took advantage. Ravaglia made the save at the near post on Zaccagni, but could do little on the Isaksen follow-up.

Just moments later, the visitors equalised as Nadir Zortea skipped away from Nuno Tavares and his angled drive was fingertipped onto the inside of the far post by Provedel, with Isaksen’s fellow Dane Odgaard ready to turn in the rebound.

Bologna very nearly got another before half-time, as Juan Miranda’s lob went over Provedel and Mario Gila risked an own goal to nod it practically off the line.

Maurizio Sarri made a double change for the restart, as Isaksen had an adductor injury and Nuno Tavares was jeered by fans for repeated defensive errors.

Mario Gila shinned an effort off target from the edge of the D, but Ravaglia made a great reaction one-handed save on Matteo Guendouzi at the base of the near post after Basic’s pull-back, then another great response to deny Matteo Cancellieri’s header on the resulting corner.

Ravaglia made two big saves in the space of 60 seconds, first scrambling across on the deflected Guendouzi attempt, then to palm away Tijjani Noslin’s header on the resulting corner.

Cancellieri hit the half-volley over on a smart Noslin chest down, but Lazio were reduced to 10 men when Mario Gila was booked for going in very high on Santiago Castro, then immediately got another card for dissent.

Bologna pushed rather half-heartedly, but Lewis Ferguson blasted off target from a promising position.
