Gvidas Gineitis replied to Adam Marusic, allowing Torino to hold Lazio to a 1- 1 draw at the Stadio Olimpico.
Torino and Lazio shared the spoils in a Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday with second-half goals from Gineitis and Marusic.
The Granata had the first chance in the game when Mattia Zaccagni misplaced a backpass, sparking a counter-attack from which Che Adams could only earn a corner kick.
Zaccagni reacted quickly, and a few minutes later, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic deflected his shot from inside the box, following a Gustav Isaksen cross from the right.
The Torino goalkeeper took a colossal risk shortly afterwards when he didn’t control a ball outside the box, losing possession to Pedro’s pressing. The Spaniard wasn’t quick enough to fire towards the goal, seeing VMS make a quick comeback to save his shot.
Italy international Nicolò Rovella sent a shot from inside the box wide of the near post, while his compatriot Cesare Casadei won possession high up the pitch later on, but Adams didn’t get on the ball quickly enough inside the box.
Lazio took the lead before the hour mark with Marusic making the most of a lovely Pedro touch at the edge of the box. The ex-Barcelona and Chelsea star’s flick opened the space for Marusic, who found the net with a curler at the far post.
Lazio looked in control of the match and had a couple of chances to double their lead.
Milinkovic-Savic saved a close-range Zaccagni shot with his left foot and then tipped a Tijjani Noslin’s header over the crossbar.
Paolo Vanoli’s substitutions made the difference as Granata reserves Yann Karamoh and Gineitis contributed to the equaliser.
The French winger’s through ball inspired Cristiano Biraghi’s run on the left flank. The Italian’s pass was deflected inside the box, but still reached Gineitis, who beat Ivan Provedel with a ruthless finish.
It was a big blow for Lazio who only had one more chance with Noslin, but Milinkovic-Savic easily blocked his attempt.
Lazio fans booed the team after a third consecutive draw at home, which pushed the Biancocelesti four points below fourth-placed Bologna.
