Serie A | Lecce 0-3 Como: Nico Paz inspires in Salento

Como got back on track with a comfortable victory away to Lecce, with Nico Paz, Jacobo Ramon and Tasos Douvikas goals.

Cesc Fabregas was trying to shake off back-to-back defeats to Inter and Roma , but Alvaro Morata, Assane Diao, Jayden Addai and Edoardo Goldaniga were injured. Maxi Perrone returned from suspension, but the coach sat out a touchline ban . Lecce were hard hit by AFCON duty, losing Lameck Banda, Lassana Coulibaly and Kialonda Gaspar, plus Tete Morente, Medon Berisha, Balthazar Pierret and Christian Fruchtl injured.

Como opened the scoring with a stroke of luck, because Nico Paz had a shot from a huge distance that took a big deflection off Tiago Gabriel’s back, looping up and over the helpless Wladimiro Falcone. Lecce felt there was a foul on Ylber Ramadani in the build-up, prompting a red card for coach Eusebio Di Francesco.

Tasos Douvikas thought he’d scored with an acrobatic overhead kick, only to be denied by the equally impressive Falcone save.

Falcone also used his body to parry the Alberto Moreno angled drive, while Jean Butez was alert on Youssef Maleh’s volley on a free kick to the back post and Antonino Gallo fired over the bar.

Ignace van der Brempt made a decisive tackle to stop Riccardo Sottil scoring after Como got into a tangle playing out from the back.

Just as Lecce were pushing for the equaliser, they conceded the second from a set play. The free kick was taken short and an initial attempt charged down, until Mergim Vojvoda nodded the loose ball to the back post for a Jacobo Ramon volley from close range.

Como added a third when Douvikas ran onto the Nico Paz disguised through ball and beat Falcone at the near post.

Douvikas had the ball in the net for a fourth time with an acrobatic bicycle kick, but it was disallowed for the earlier Nicolas Kuhn offside.
