There are plenty of problems for him to deal with, as Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante are suspended, with Sardar Azmoun, Evan Ndicka and Houssem Aouar on international duty.

Renato Sanches, Chris Smalling, Tammy Abraham and Marash Kumbulla are still out injured.

De Rossi switches to a four-man defence and builds a Christmas Tree 4-3-2-1 formation with Dybala and El Shaarawy supporting Lukaku.

Verona remain in the bottom three despite last week’s victory over Empoli and sold star man Cyril Ngonge to Napoli, while Josh Doig is heading to Sassuolo.

Darko Lazovic, Ondrej Duda and Diego Coppola are all suspended, but Pawel Dawidowicz is available again to start.
