Canada wins 3-2 on penalties over Argentina

In the penultimate match of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup, Canada defeated Argentina 3-2 on penalties after both teams went scoreless in regulation. The win secured two points for Canada, enough to maintain second place in tournament standings but snuffing out a chance at the title.

Neither team developed much offensive rhythm early in the match. The first half ended with a chance for Canada from Jordyn Huitema that hit the right crossbar after being tipped away by Argentinian goalkeeper Solana Pereyra.

Canada came out swinging in the second half with four chances in the first five minutes. But despite playing with a higher tempo and dominating possession, the team couldn’t capitalize. Argentina’s strong defense took the game to penalties, where Canadian goalkeeper Kailen Sheridan ultimately prevailed against Pereyra.
