Sir Alex Ferguson suffers secret injury

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson still attends many of the club’s games to this day.

An adored figure at Old Trafford, the 84-year-old won 13 league titles in charge of the club between 1986 and 2013.

BBC Sport recently named the Scotsman the greatest Premier League manager of all time for his efforts in charge of the Red Devils, where he powered the club to tens of honours in a period to remember.

However, journalist Alan Nixon reports on his Patreon that the ex-United boss recently suffered an injury that he had been keeping secret until now.

Sir Alex reportedly arrived at Old Trafford in a protective boot for Sunday’s game against Ipswich Town, after an accidental slip in Hospital in May.

Nixon discloses that “Pals of the former boss say he is in fine spirits despite the ‘handicap’ and was desperate to see his old team play.”

The injury stopped Ferguson from following Scotland to the World Cup in North America, and he still needs to take care of the issue, but it has not prevented him from travelling to see his beloved Manchester United in action for the first time at Old Trafford in the 2026/27 season.

It’s a blow for the United legend who will be hoping to make a recovery after reportedly picking up the injury four months ago.

The 84-year-old would have adored seeing his old side beat Ipswich in style, as they romped to a 5-2 win through a Bruno Fernandes hat-trick, a finish from Bryan Mbeumo and a Jacob Greaves own goal.

Manchester United’s next Old Trafford fixture will be on Thursday 10th September in their UEFA Champions League return, as Azerbaijani outfit Sabah FK visit.

Ferguson will surely be back at the Theatre of Dreams once again then, as the Red Devils look to start their European ventures with new boss Michael Carrick.
