Sir David Beckham is once again making his name heard with his latest meeting with King Charles III sparking attention.
The meeting was intended to help the designers in putting the final touches to Curious Garden for the upcoming RHS Chelsea Flower Show which takes place next month.
Highgrove was the setting for the meeting with garden trainees attending to talk about their excitement about the project.
The meeting also helped the team come to the decision that a beehive would be a part of the garden with this a hint towards The King’s and Beckham’s enthusiasm for beekeeping and producing natural honey.
Commenting on the occasion on the official Foundation website, Sir David Beckham stated: “Both The King’s Foundation and the RHS do such great work in protecting and promoting green spaces across the UK.
“I want to help encourage a new generation to appreciate the benefits of nature and get involved in gardening. It’s been fun to be a part of creating the Curious Garden and I’m excited for people to see it at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.”
Alan Titchmarsh, who is a King’s Foundation and RHS ambassador added: “As a long-time supporter of both the RHS and The King’s Foundation, I am delighted to lend my horticultural expertise to the Curious Garden.
“Curiosity is really the beginning of any gardening journey – and certainly that’s how I began my career – so I hope this work inspires a new generation of gardeners to explore their talents through the incredible training and work experience schemes available via the RHS and The King’s Foundation.”
Frances Tophill, who is the designer for the garden, also commented on the occasion saying: “As my first Chelsea Garden for the RHS, I am thrilled to be working on such a special design.
“It has been inspiring to spend time at Highgrove and learn more about His Majesty’s approach to gardening and how he incorporates his Harmony philosophy into all of the work that takes place there – which we have brought to the designs for the garden. I can’t wait to share the Curious Garden with the world!”
Hints of Beckham’s football heritage can be seen in the design of the garden with seven flower beds replicating the number seven which he wore in his professional career.
The Flower Show starts Tuesday 19th May and runs until Saturday 23rd May where Curiosity Garden will be on display for the attendees, including RHS members and the public, to see.
David Beckham’s enthusiasm for gardening was first revealed when it was announced that he would be taking part in the project for the Flower Show.
The project is now nearing its conclusions and the public could turn their attention towards Beckham to see if he continues to pursue this passion or focuses on other matters such as his ownership of Inter Miami.
