Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy still has time to win over the fans by prioritising the footballing decisions at N17

Tottenham are still stuck on first gear as we approach the business-end of the transfer market. There are hints of potential unrest amongst fans as other clubs keep signing players to bolster their squad for next season. One may say that the North London club is already playing catch-up with other teams in the transfer market due to Daniel Levy’s incompetence.

The Spurs chairman was quick to come out and say that he wanted the club to compete for the Premier League and the Champions League in the coming years. But that seems like an impossible task if reinforcements are not brought in for next season. The fans will also hope that Levy does not push the panic button when things go south next season, and gives Thomas Frank some time to adapt.

The only new signing of note has been the arrival of Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale earlier last week. But the young defender is an investment for the future, not the present. Some may point out that the Lilywhites need players that could instantly make an impact at N17 and help the club compete on all four fronts next season.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is under pressure to get decisions right

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is under pressure to build on the Europa League success next season and help the club move forward. The Lilywhites need to address a lot of issues on the pitch, and it is time for Levy to prioritise the footballing decisions more than the business side of things at N17.

Ex-scout Bryan King has also urged the Spurs chairman to be proactive in the transfer market. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,

“Levy waited to get rid of Ange Postecoglou. He’s brought in Frank after a lot of speculation, and now he’s obviously trying to get on the good side of supporters after that decision by reinstalling these gates. To bring back those gates, I think, is a good move by Mr. Levy.”

The ex-scout added,

“It will certainly ease some of the pressure, that’s for sure. However, the biggest pressure at the moment is the inactivity regarding transfers. A lot of talk, no action. Something needs to be done; who’s going to be leaving, who’s coming in? Too much speculation makes unrest in the football club.”

Bryan King suggested that Daniel Levy is trying to make up to the fans by reinstalling the Bill Nicholson Gates outside the home stadium for next season. The ex-scout believes that this decision will ease the pressure for now, but the club chairman still needs to be proactive in the transfer market to get the fans behind him. King adds that Spurs need to revamp their squad quickly, or else there will be unrest amongst the fanbase before the season kicks-off.

Thomas Frank also called for the Tottenham hierarchy to have the same vision as him as the Danish tactician looked to kickstart a new era at N17. With the North London club competing in the Champions League next season, Daniel Levy needs to bring in reinforcements that could bolster the depth and quality of the squad.
