Manchester United’s academy continues to inspire a new generation, with echoes of the iconic Class of ’92 still rippling through English football.

From the Premier League to League Two, the influence of United legends remains ever-present, their philosophies shaping the next wave of players who grew up surrounded by stories of glory, discipline, and legacy.

As Ruben Amorim and the current United setup continue nurturing young stars, the club’s DNA of homegrown excellence endures beyond Old Trafford’s walls.

And this week, another chapter in that proud lineage unfolded, this time through the son of a United great.

Ruben Butt, the 18-year-old son of Manchester United icon Nicky Butt, made headlines after delivering a standout performance for Salford City on Tuesday night.

Making his first-ever start for the club, Ruben Butt produced a display that mirrored his father’s determination and technical flair, scoring twice in a 4-2 victory over Wolves’ U21s in the Vertu Motors Trophy.

The young midfielder opened the scoring with a composed finish into the far corner after cutting in from the flank, before later doubling his tally with a deft chip over the goalkeeper, a moment of pure confidence and class.

His two-goal haul not only secured victory for Salford but also earned him the Man of the Match award.

His father, Nicky Butt, who was instrumental in Salford’s rise as one of its early investors alongside fellow United legends Gary Neville and David Beckham, is certain to have watched on with immense pride.

The senior Butt, part of United’s historic 1999 Treble-winning side, made 387 appearances for the Red Devils, collecting six Premier League titles, three FA Cups and a Champions League medal.

After hanging up his boots, Nicky transitioned into coaching and player development at United before becoming CEO of Salford City in 2022.

Though he later stepped down, his connection to the club remains firmly intact, now strengthened by his son’s breakthrough.

For Ruben, this could be just the beginning.

As he continues to develop under Salford’s setup, United fans will undoubtedly keep an eye on his progress, hoping that another Butt might one day wear the famous red shirt again.
