Celtic are preparing for Sunday’s Glasgow Derby against Rangers at Ibrox. Brendan Rodgers’ side will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing UCL exit in Kazakhstan with a victory to put pressure on Russell Martin.
The Scottish Champions have had an underwhelming window thus far but have added quality in Kieran Tierney, Michel-Ange Balikwisha, Benji Nygren and Marcelo Saracchi.
On Saturday evening, sources close to the club confirmed to The Celtic Star that the club were hoping to add three players before the end of the window. This is expected to be in the forward line and could be two strikers and a winger or two wingers and a new striker.
Celtic are actively pursuing Kasper Dolberg from Anderlecht but no deal has been agreed with the Belgian club yet. The 55-cap Danish forward is believed to be worth north of £8m but Anderlecht are looking to get their own replacement before allowing the ex-Ajax and Nice striker to move on.
A number of wingers have been touted with moves to Celtic Park with Sebastian Tounekti and Jakob Breum the leading contenders. Celtic will require to pay in excess of £5m each for the wide men but so far, no deal has been done.
Swansea City are still interested in Adam Idah and this deal would likely result in two strikers being brought into the club. Likewise, if Yang’s proposed move to Birmingham City transpires then Celtic may look at a couple wingers to compete for spaces. It remains to be seen whether both will be involved from the start at Ibrox or whether they will be called upon from the bench.
The transfer window shuts at 11pm on Monday for Celtic and other Scottish teams. However, this could benefit Celtic as the English teams will have to have their deals done by 7pm.
