Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez has earned a call-up to the Spain national team for the upcoming Nations League games against England, Croatia and Czechia.
Inter goalkeeper Martinez will represent Spain during the upcoming international break.
Martinez has made one appearance for La Roja, debuting in June 2021 in a friendly against Lithuania. This call-up, however, could allow the 28-year-old to make his first competitive appearance with his national team.
No other Serie A representative is included in the defending World Cup champions’ squad.
The U21 Spain national team, meanwhile, has many more Serie A players: Jacobo Ramón, Alex Valle and Jesús Rodríguez of Como, and Rafa Obrador of Sassuolo.
Martinez has become Inter’s starting goalkeeper this season after Yann Sommer left as a free agent at the end of his contract in June 2026.
Martinez has kept one clean sheet in five Inter appearances across all competitions this season, conceding eight goals.
Spain will visit England on September 26, host Croatia on September 29 and Czechia on October 3, then travel to Croatia on October 6 for the opening four games of Nations League Group C.
