Spanish media react as Marcus Rashford secures Barcelona win over Getafe

Marcus Rashford pushed Barcelona closer towards the LaLiga title for a second consecutive year with his performance against Getafe.

Rashford, who had scored earlier this month against Espanyol, found the net once again in the 74th minute to make it 2-0 to Barça and to secure all three points for the team.

Hansi Flick’s side are now eleven points clear of Real Madrid, who sit second, with five games of the season to go.

For Barcelona, arguably, victory in this game was a huge step towards securing the title with Champions League qualification already secured for next season ahead of the campaign’s conclusion.

The Spanish media have now been reacting to the performance, analysing Marcus Rashford specifically and whether his impact was positive or negative.

AS stated: “The Englishman came on to play on the right wing, scoring a powerful and speedy goal. For once, he was clinical and lethal in front of goal.”

SPORT shared a similarly positive view, giving Rashford a 7/10, and explaining “he scored a great goal after a precise run, bringing calm to the team and practically sealing the game. Exactly what’s expected of him in these situations.”

Sempre Barca gave the winger a 7.5/10, adding that “his explosiveness ended up really troubling Getafe, and it eventually allowed him to grab another goal for Barcelona as well in the second half.”

Mundo Deportivo were also positive, adding that “despite facing a tough road ahead, the Englishman came out firing on all cylinders.

“He surged down the right flank and made it 2-0 after a blistering run following a brilliant assist from Lewandowski.”

Barcelona next face tenth place Osasuna on Saturday 2nd May with the opportunity to secure the title should results go their way across the round of fixtures.
