Manchester United have placed a significant emphasis on strengthening their midfield options in recent months.

Kobbie Mainoo recently committing his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have also continued to search the market for additional quality in the middle of the park.

They recently reached an agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson as Michael Carrick continues to reshape his squad.

Away from Old Trafford, several former United players are continuing to establish themselves elsewhere in English football.

Now, another ex-Red Devil has officially secured a fresh challenge ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Ethan Galbraith completes Stoke City move

Stoke City confirmed on their official website that Northern Ireland international Ethan Galbraith has joined the club from Swansea City on a four-year contract.

The 25-year-old arrives at the bet365 Stadium for an undisclosed fee after an impressive debut season with Swansea, where he was voted the club’s Best Newcomer.

Galbraith featured in 44 matches during the 2025/26 campaign.

He scored memorable goals against Portsmouth, West Bromwich Albion and Derby County.

Stoke’s Sporting Director Jonathan Walters described him as “one of the most gifted midfielders in the Championship”.

Although many supporters will remember Galbraith from his time at Manchester United, the midfielder has built up considerable senior experience since departing Old Trafford.

Having joined United from Linfield’s academy in 2017, Ethan Galbraith progressed through the youth ranks before making his senior debut in a Europa League clash against Astana in 2019.

He also represented Northern Ireland at senior level while still a United player.

Loan spells at Doncaster Rovers and Salford City followed before he left permanently in 2023.

The midfielder then enjoyed an outstanding spell with Leyton Orient.

He scored 11 goals and registered ten assists across two seasons while helping the club reach the League One play-off final.

His performances earned Orient a club-record fee when Swansea signed him in 2025.

Galbraith is not the only former Manchester United player recently finding a new club.

Arabian Falcons, who recently retained former United midfielder Ravel Morrison, also completed the signing of ex-Red Devils defender Danny Simpson.

Stoke will now hope Galbraith can play a key role as they push for promotion back to the Premier League.
