Thomas Frank has arrived at Tottenham Hotspur and so far, he has been able to add Mohammed Kudus, Kota Takai and Joao Palhinha to his ranks. While Spurs supporters would prefer to see more arrivals before the new season commences, the new boss wants to trim his squad first.
We have already witnessed several youngsters depart the club since last month. Alfie Dorrington and Ashley Phillips have returned to Aberdeen and Stoke City respectively after enjoying loan spells last time out, while Rangers have signed academy starlet Mikey Moore for the 2025/26 season.
Notts County have recently announced the capture of Tyrese Hall on a season-long loan, while Championship side Stoke City snapped up highly-rated Jamie Donley after his impressive loan spell with League One side Leyton Orient last season. Hall and Donley join Son Heung-min as some of the players who have left Hotspur Way over the past week.
However, the club chiefs are not expected to stop here, with another young talent soon to be farmed out on loan.
According to reliable Football London journalist Alasdair Gold on X, Yang Min-hyeok is heading to Portsmouth for the 2025/26 season.
Yang Min-hyeok has been one of many young talents made available for loan to help him get regular minutes and hasten his development. The teenager signed a six-year deal with Spurs in July 2024 after joining them from K League 1 side Gangwon FC, although he didn’t arrive in England until January.
The speedy winger, who can also operate through the middle as a No.10, subsequently moved on loan to Queens Park Rangers for the second half of last season, making 14 appearances, scoring twice and supplying an assist. The South Korean prodigy has been involved with Thomas Frank’s first pre-season as Tottenham gaffer, featuring twice during the club’s friendly fixtures.
During his five-month loan at QPR, Yang gave a glimpse of his serious potential and versatility. The teenage sensation was used in different attacking positions by the QPR boss and did well more often than not. Now, the South Asian talent is heading back to the Championship, which gives him a great opportunity to garner regular minutes and catch the eye.
Frank using Yang during the pre-season tour of Asia indicates that he is already on the Dane’s radar, although he is not quite ready for first-team action at Tottenham. So, the best way for his development is a season-long loan in the Championship, where the attacker gets ample opportunities at Portsmouth and returns to White Hart Lane with the intent to break into the senior side in the 2026/27 campaign.
