Transfer talks between Manchester United and Brentford for attacker Bryan Mbeumo have stalled due to a difference in transfer valuation. The Bees have already rejected two transfer bids for the prolific 25-year-old, holding onto Mbeumo for a much bigger offer.
Meanwhile, United are operating under a limited transfer budget and have already spent a huge chunk on bringing Matheus Cunha. The Red Devils are ready to spend big again for Mbeumo before they operate under a “sell-to-buy policy” this summer.
We All Follow United recently covered that Man United are still calm about the potential deal, despite ongoing tough negotiations. A lot depends on how much the club are willing to spend on Mbeumo based on manager Ruben Amorim’s desire.
Amorim has decided to prioritise quality over quantity in building a core within the squad, with no European competition fixtures. However, selling clubs cannot keep bullying Man United in their quest to sign only quality players.
The Athletic recently reported that Brentford have put a £70m valuation on Mbeumo after rejecting United’s second bid this summer. According to the I Paper, talks between United and Brentford have stalled amid differences in the transfer valuation for Mbeumo.
The report suggests that João Pedro’s £60m move to Chelsea and Newcastle United’s £55m offer for Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga have only strengthened Brentford’s resolve to extract the most out of their prolific star in the currently inflated transfer window.
United fans have long expressed frustration as other clubs raise transfer fees whenever United pursue a player. Man United cannot allow this problem to persist, particularly when they want to turn their fortunes around amid financial problems.
However, if Amorim wants no one other than Mbeumo, the United hierarchy would face a difficult situation. The transfer market has alternatives like Antoine Semenyo, but like most, his prices are also inflated at the moment.
