Going into the summer transfer window, there is a lot of noise around the futures of some Tottenham Hotspur players.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are at the apex of that list. Romero is attracting interest from Atletico Madrid once again, while Barcelona are keeping tabs on Van de Ven. Teenage prodigy Archie Gray, who has been Tottenham’s best player in the last few months, is wanted by Bayern Munich and Real Madrid among several clubs.
If Tottenham go down, it’d be difficult to keep hold of these players and many more. Another player who has now been linked with an exit from N17 is Mathys Tel.
There is widespread speculation about a possible return to Germany, with Borussia Dortmund emerging as a destination for Mathys Tel. Gadiri Camara, Tel’s agent, has addressed the latest speculation surrounding his client’s future.
“I don’t know if Dortmund really want Mathys, but honestly a return to Bayern is the only possibility for Mathys to come back to Germany. He can’t play for another club in the Bundesliga. He loves Bayern,” Gadiri Camara was quoted by Fussball Transfers.
Tel joined Tottenham from Bayern Munich last summer, signing a long-term contract after impressing on a short loan. The Frenchman, who spent two-and-a-half years with Bayern Munich, is viewed as a long-term investment by the Tottenham officials. However, he hasn’t had a great impact in his first full season in North London, registering three goals and an assist in 31 appearances in all competitions.
It has been an up-and-down campaign, which saw Tel being omitted from the Champions League’s league-phase squad before being named for the knockout rounds. While interim boss Igor Tudor has not had the desired impact on the club, Tel has benefited individually. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a run of games under Tudor, helping him regain his confidence levels. He has been one of the bright spots in recent weeks in an otherwise Spurs’ torrid run of form.
Unfortunately, Tel suffered an injury in the 3-0 defeat to Forest last weekend, forcing him to miss the international duty with France Under-21s. Thanks to a three-week break between the games for Spurs, the young forward has plenty of time to recover for their next game, as he is one of our biggest hopes in the Premier League survival campaign.
