Paulo Fonseca is the coach AC Milan have chosen to succeed Stefano Pioli this summer but he has three issues that he must tackle if there is to be any success.

As reported by Tuttosport (via Milan News), the Portuguese coach will have a job on his hands if he is to take Milan to the top of the Serie A table and make them a force in Europe next season.

One of the major issues that Milan now have is that there is a disconnect between the fanbase and the RedBird ownership, thanks to a perceived lack of ambition.

Only a successful start under Fonseca can change that, as fans need to see evidence that Milan are in the mix for trophies.

Another major issue this season has been the sheer number of injuries, and Fonseca will not be successful if that problem is not addressed straight away. The defensive injuries have been particularly problematic and cannot be explained simply with bad luck.

The final problem is the lack of defensive balance in the team, which would perhaps be helped by less injuries in that part of the squad.

Milan have been very easy to get at in Serie A this season, conceding more than everyone else in the top half except for Napoli who are 10th.
