Chelsea are about to kick off against Leeds in the FA Cup semi final, and one player we know is starting is Alejandro Garnacho.
Before kick off his manager Calum McFarlane spoke a little about what he expected from his left winger:
“Ale has got talent, and he has scored twice in his previous two games at Wembley. So we’re hoping he can repeat that form and has shown at times this season he has that level.”
Let’s face it, Garnacho’s season has gone from mediocre to terrible since the turn of the year. His performances against West Ham in January and Manchester United last weekend are two of the worst showings from a winger we’ve ever seen at Chelsea.
There are only three reasons he’s in the team at all: one, that Estevao is injured. Two, that Jamie Gittens is injured. Three, that Cole Palmer is injured.
Still, as McFarlane says, he’s scored at Wembley before, and today would be quite the moment to turn his Chelsea career around.
McFarlane also spoke a little about his own role, downplaying any ideas that it was an audition for him to further his own career.
Chelsea’s team news today had some interesting factors – the return of their best striker is a huge boost.
