There is a sense of relief around Tottenham right now after the Lilywhites managed to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig on a long-term deal. The Netherlands international had a proposal from Chelsea for a long time, and he had also agreed personal terms for a proposed move to Stamford Bridge. But the deal stalled, and the Lilywhites managed to secure a major coup in the process.

The 22-year-old was also unveiled to the fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Spurs took on Bournemouth in the Premier League this weekend. The Lilywhites went on to lose that game after a dire performance, and it was clear to see that they were missing a key player on the pitch that could turn the game around… Xavi Simons.

The Dutchman’s immense potential and ability to make an instant impact is something that will keep the fans excited during the game. “His arrival certainly brought a real buzz around Hotspur Way on Friday. There was a real excitement in the building. Not only with the staff, but also the players. There were quite a few players asking various members of the staff in and around the training ground if he had signed yet.”

The journalist added that the Tottenham players, along with the staff, were ‘excited’ about Simons’ arrival. Gold reported that some players even kept asking members of staff if the Dutchman had officially signed or not.
