Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in the media headlines for all the wrong reasons yet again. Just when the Lilywhites had the chance of turning their fortunes around and building something special, Levy jumped in and made the bold decision to put a ‘full-stop’ to it. Well, it is fair to say that the club chairman’s decision to sack Ange Postecoglou has not gone down well with the fans and the players.
Many fans believe that Daniel Levy is prioritising a top half finish in the Premier League more than winning silverware to end the club’s trophy drought. The Europa League success was the perfect chance for the Englishman to build a connection with the fans. Yet, Levy chose to single-handedly ruin the euphoria surrounding the European success at N17 just two weeks after the historic win.
Now the Spurs chairman has a big task of finding the right manager that could replace Ange Postecoglou at the helm and kickstart a new era at N17. The Lilywhites have the chance to build on the Europa League success and the right managerial appointment will be needed to do just that.
Tottenham are advancing in their efforts to hire Brentford boss Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement for next season. The Danish tactician has done an impressive job at the Gtech Stadium and deserves to make the switch to a big club after seven years at the West London club. But along with his appointment, the Lilywhites are also expecting a massive ‘clear-out’ this summer.
Thomas Frank will be expected to get his own backroom staff if he joins Spurs in the coming days. So, a major overhaul is expected at N17 following a disappointing domestic campaign. Ex-scout Bryan King has also suggested that the Brentford boss will bring in his own staff to North London following his appointment. Speaking to Tottenham News, King said,
“Tottenham need to start preparing for next season. They need to decide who is going to go, what players will stay, and what staff will stay. All these decisions need to be made in the next 10 days. I don’t think the compensation involved in appointing Frank will be a problem for Tottenham, not when you consider the fees they pay for players.”
The ex-Spurs scout added,
“If Frank comes in, or any manager for that matter, they’re going to want their own staff, there is going to be a clear-out. Any new manager who comes in will want to know what players are staying, who he can bring in, he will want to see the structure of the football club, and there will be staff changes, that is for sure.”
Bryan King suggested that Tottenham need to decide the future of the current staff and the players at the club. The ex-scout added that hiring Thomas Frank will not be a problem for the Lilywhites, given their strong financial position. However, King added that Frank will need his own staff and players for next season, so a massive ‘clear-out’ is expected at N17 in the summer before the season starts.
It remains to be seen whether Spurs can find a breakthrough in negotiations to hire Thomas Frank in the coming days. Daniel Levy will hope that the Danish tactician lands at N17 as the Lilywhites are looking ton kickstart a new era at Hotspur Way. The first order of business for Frank will be to get the players and the fans back on board following Ange Postecoglou’s departure from the club.
