Everyone thinks the title is heading to Ibrox, even some of our supporters think the same. That could work in Celtic’s favour...

As we head into the last five rounds of fixtures after the split, Celtic sit in the unfamiliar standings in the lowly reaches of third place, but still very much in contention for a fifth successive title with only three points separating us and current leaders Hearts.

It’s still anyone’s title heading into the last run of games as the top best six sides in the country clash with each other, but in the minds of most, including some of our own supporters, the title has Govan firmly stamped as its destination.

Granted, we aren’t playing like champions, but a defeatist attitude doesn’t help us in any way whatsoever.

According to the Scottish mainstream media and the Ibrox supporters, Danny Rohl’s all conquering Bears will canter to the league title, despite currently occupying second place, with two tough away fixtures to negotiate against Celtic and Hearts in the upcoming run of fixtures.

The same Ibrox club who failed to beat Celtic over two games of football at home, one of them being against a much depleted Celtic side. Is that a side we should be concerned about?

The only side who are detrimental to our success, is ourselves, plain and simple.  We all know how the Ibrox club reacts when the going gets tough, especially when they are seen as clear favourites in everyone’s eyes.

Our chances of achieving five in a row literally lies in our own hands, and a one hundred percent record in our last five matches will 99 percent guarantee us top spot.

Of course, we have to improve, but with the experience in our squad, and having a proven winner in the dugout in Martin O’Neill, it’s still a major possibility that we achieve our goal of becoming champions.

The fact everyone has written us off, and tipped the blue side of Glasgow to be crowned champions could indeed work in our favour.

If Martin O’Neill keeps delivering a run of seven wins – two down and five to go – then it doesn’t matter at all if the football has been less than pleasing on the eye. No-one will care as we celebrate on Trophy Day.
