Thomas Frank and Ange Postecoglou set go head to head in new roles

Thomas Frank, the Danish football manager, was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in February 2026 after just eight months in charge at Tottenham in June 2025 from Brentford, where he had a long and successful spell, as a replacement for Ange Postecoglou, signing a contract until 2028.

Sacking: Spurs dismissed him on 11 February 2026 following a poor run of results (e.g., two wins in 17 Premier League games, sitting 16th and five points above relegation after a home loss to Newcastle). Fans had been vocal in calling for his exit.

According to reports from The Sun and The Guardian (around 12–13 May 2026), Frank has signed on as a pundit/expert analyst with BBC Sport for the 2026 World Cup.

He’ll join the BBC panel alongside names like Wayne Rooney, Joe Hart, Alan Shearer, and Olivier Giroud. Notably, his predecessor at Tottenham, Ange Postecoglou, has also taken a similar punditry role with ITV.

This appears to be a short-term media role rather than a new managerial position, giving him a high-profile platform ahead of (or during) the tournament while he likely weighs up his next coaching move.

Ange Postecoglou (aged 60) is currently not in a managerial role. He is working in media and advisory positions following two high-profile sackings in 2025.

World Cup 2026 Pundit: He has signed with ITV as an expert analyst for the tournament (co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and USA). He will appear alongside Gary Neville, Roy Keane, Ian Wright, and Andros Townsend. This puts him in direct “rivalry” with his Tottenham successor Thomas Frank, who is on the BBC panel

Tottenham Hotspur: Sacked in mid-2025 (reportedly June) despite winning the Europa League, ending a 17-year trophy drought for the club.

Nottingham Forest: Appointed in September 2025 as a short-term fix but sacked after just 39 days (18 October 2025) with zero wins in eight games (2 draws, 6 losses), including a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea. This is one of the shortest managerial tenures in Premier League history.
