After 11 Premier League matches this season, Tottenham currently stands fifth in the table with 18 points. Their league position has improved significantly since Thomas Frank took over as manager from Ange Postecoglou, who led the Lilywhites to 17th place last season.
Tottenham’s position in the league table does not fully represent their performance this season. Thomas Frank’s side has been plagued with injuries this season, with several key players, including Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski, and James Maddison, currently sidelined. In their absence, Spurs have often struggled in attack and were probably lucky with some of their positive results.
Tottenham News has reported that, according to Opta’s Supercomputer, Spurs should have collected an average of just 12.27 points this season, placing 16th in the league, above Fulham and Wolves. However, with luck being a major factor and their goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario being in stellar form this season, Spurs have managed to stay among the top six.
However, results may soon turn against them if they don’t address their weaknesses. Spurs have been defensively solid this season, but they need to improve their creativity in the final third.
Their struggles were on full display in the dismal 1-0 defeat to Chelsea earlier this month. In that game, Spurs registered just a single shot on target and recorded an expected goals (xG) figure of 0.05, the lowest since the Premier League began tracking such stats in the 2012-13 campaign.
Tottenham managed to win the Europa League last season, but barely escaped relegation in the Premier League. After facing 22 defeats through the season, the Tottenham board sacked Postecoglou as manager.
In light of the Supercomputer stats, if Thomas Frank fails to make significant improvements in the squad, there is a very strong case that he might face the same fate as his predecessor.
Spurs currently hold a shocking home record, winning just 3 of their previous 20 matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While their away form remains decent, Spurs need to get positive results at home if they are targetting a top four finish this season.

With the international break underway, Thomas Frank needs to reevaluate his squad and tactics, focusing on fresh attacking strategies. Frank needs to focus on improving Tottenham’s attacking fluidity and creativity to get the team performing well again.
With the January transfer window approaching, Spurs will likely need to sign a prolific forward to address their struggles in the attacking third. The next few months will be crucial for Thomas Frank, as his future at the club may depend on how effectively he navigates the injury crisis and gets the Lilywhites back on track.
