Inter lost their first game of the season this evening when they were defeated 2-1 by a spirited Udinese side who fought back from behind to stun Cristian Chivu’s side.

Speaking to Inter TV after the game, with quotes via FCInterNews , Nerazzurri forward Marcus Thuram was calm: “We mustn’t get ourselves down, we talked in the dressing room.”

Thuram admitted his side knew the game would be difficult, after Udinese impressed against last season’s Champions League finalists, “We knew it would be tough. In a season there are hard games like this.”

Thuram focuses on positives after Inter lose to Udinese

Thuram provided the assist for Denzel Dumfries’ opener before two unanswered goals from the visitors left San Siro stunned for the second time in the space of a week – after fierce rivals Milan lost their season opener to Davide Nicola’s Cremonese.

Despite the loss, the French forward chose to remain focused on the positives, saying “In the second half we pushed hard but we were a bit unlucky” before adding “We have to start games like we did in the second half and, by playing in that fashion, we can turn unfavourable situations around.”

The Nerazzurri must now aim to recover over the international break and prepare for a congested September when play resumes, with trips to Juventus and Ajax amongst six games to be played in just over two weeks.
