To sign a Newcastle United full-back Manchester City will have to go big

Newcastle United’s versatile full-back Tino Livramento has previously been named as Manchester City’s top target to fill the troublesome right-back position. Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that Livramento is City’s number-one target to fill a void in Pep Guardiola’s squad. Signing a quality right-back is one task Manchester City must complete ahead of the 25/26 season.

A new report has indicated that Pep Guardiola is keen to bring Tino Livramento to the Etihad. But for City to have any chance of signing Livramento they’ll have to go big and offer Newcastle United a deal that is too good to refuse. But even that may not be enough to sign Livramento this summer.

Pep Guardiola is keen for Manchester City to sign Tino Livramento this summer.

Simon Jones has reported for the Daily Mail that Pep Guardiola is eager for Manchester City to sign Tino Livramento from Newcastle United this summer. Furthermore, Jones reports that Livramento has three years left in his current deal at Newcastle. Simon Jones adds that Newcastle do not want to sell Livramento this summer.

The only way City could sign Tino Livramento is if they submit an offer to Newcastle that is too good to refuse.

As of right now, there is nothing to suggest that Newcastle are willing to sell Tino Livramento this summer. Chris Waugh has reported in the latest Athletic DealSheet piece that Newcastle are not willing to sell Tino Livramento, Alexander Isak, Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes or Anthony Gordon this summer. They are determined to keep hold of their prized assets this summer. Based on all of the available information the only way Manchester City could possibly sign Livramento is to present an offer to Newcastle that is too good to refuse. But even that may not be enough for City to sign Livramento this summer.

But what would that offer look like? Tino Livramento is English, and he’s one of England’s brightest defensive prospects. It would likely take an offer in excess of £70 million to bring Newcastle to the table. Even then they may not bite. Chris Waugh further reports for the Athletic that Newcastle are not facing PSR issues this summer. So £70 million may not get Newcastle to the table to sell Livramento. That’s the reality of situation as it stands currently.

It’s easy to see why Manchester City and Pep Guardiola would be so eager to sign Tino Livramento this summer. He’s homegrown, a proven Premier League performer and has his best football ahead of him. He is also an elite defender with the capabilities to develop into a fine player when in possession.

For Manchester City to have chance to sign him this summer they’d likely need to break the bank to do so. But even that may not be enough. There’s no evidence that suggests that Newcastle United would be willing to sell Livramento. So while he may be a player City admire, signing him this summer could prove to be a difficult, if not an impossible task.
