Top Drawer Soccer’s Major League Soccer Mock Draft was released Monday. The outlet predicts three Hoosiers to be taken in the first round of Tuesday's 2024 MLS SuperDraft: senior Hugo Bacharach at No. 9 to Minnesota United, senior Joey Maher at No. 19 to Atlanta United, and junior Patrick McDonald at No. 20 to the New England Revolution.
The MLS SuperDraft coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET on Tuesday and will air on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Fans can follow along with the MLS Draft Tracker, which will update with each pick. The draft features three rounds, with 29 selections per round.
Defensive midfielder Bacharach landed at No. 30 on Top Drawer Soccer’s Postseason Top-100 list, which was also announced Monday. Center back Maher was listed at No. 77, and both he and Bacharach will go pro if chosen. McDonald was absent from the top-100, but made the All-Big Ten first team this year. The midfielder is expected to return to Indiana for his senior season regardless of Tuesday's outcome, per source.
Three fellow Hoosiers are eligible to be selected in the three rounds: seniors Jansen Miller and JT Harms, as well as junior Tommy Mihalic. Miller has already announced his fifth-year return on social media. According to the same source, goalkeeper Harms and forward Mihalic are expected to return for their fifth and senior years, respectively.
Indiana junior forward Samuel Sarver came in at No. 43 on the TDS Postseason Top-100 list and garnered United Soccer Coaches third team All-American honors as the team’s leader in both goals and assists this season. However, Sarver isn’t eligible for the Draft, as he must sign with the Columbus Crew under the homegrown player rule when both parties are ready. Though, for now, he's also expected to return to Indiana.
