Chelsea’s top 18 players by rating produced a few surprises – but after such a disappointing campaign, maybe that was inevitable.
With the final international break of the season about to finish, the London is Blue podcast took a look at the top rated Premier League players for Chelsea this season as they looked to figure out what our first XI would be going forward.
“I’m a little surprised that Chalobah’s ranking is so high,” presenter Nick Verlaney mused
“Tosin being 8th is insane. That’s wild. Estevao feels a little low at 12th… Andrey Santos seems low at a 6.8, but in the midfield you get judged differently. I think his job has been as a complement to Caicedo. Delap being last makes sense.”
We’d say Chalobah has been our best defender, so that seems fair. Santos has largely been good, and could easily have had a higher mark, we’ll agree on that.

So who could we see break into the first team in these final weeks? A fit Estevao surely has a chance to make an impression, and we’d expect Romeo Lavia to continue getting more and more minutes too.
Beyond that, there are a lot more players out of form than in form right now.
One bright spark in the remainder of this season would be the debut of Ryan Kavuma-McQueen, which the BBC think is “inevitable.”
Marc Cucurella became the latest Chelsea player to flirt with an exit from the on the international break.
