Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a keen eye on AS Trencin talent Sani Suleiman

Tottenham Hotspur have prioritised bringing in highly-regarded young players and developing them through the corridors at Hotspur Way. This transfer recruitment strategy has seen them sign the likes of Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray, Destiny Udogie, Kota Takai, Mathys Tel, Wilson Odobert and several more youngsters in recent years.

When we start looking at talents from Africa, one doesn’t end up far off Hotspur Way, with Mohammed Kudus rated as one of the best players in that continent. Having arrived from London rivals West Ham in the summer, Kudus has given a different dimension to the Lilywhites’ attack with his dribbling, ball-carrying ability, flair and creativity. He has proven to be a shrewd acquisition for Thomas Frank’s side.

And it looks like the north Londoners want to add another African talent to their roster.

AS Trencin starlet Sani Suleiman wanted by Tottenham

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Tottenham are among several European clubs closely tracking AS Trencin talent Sani Suleiman. Chelsea, Rangers, and Bayer Leverkusen have already expressed concrete interest, and now top Serie A clubs are making moves.

Sani Sulieman’s move from Akwa United to AS Trencin in 2024 has proved vital, offering him regular top-flight football and exposure to European market. The versatile midfielder’s exploits with the Nigeria’s Under-20 team at the FIFA World Cup in Chile has helped him gain more recognition. With his technical ability, intelligence and spatial awareness, the teenager has emerged as a creative hub of AS Trencin side.

Now evolving into one of Africa’s most promising young talents, Suleiman is man currently in high demand. The Nigerian’s contract at Trencin is coming to an end in the summer, which has led to several clubs keeping tabs on his situation, although the Slovakian side retain a clause to extend his stay until 2028 (Transfermarkt).

Suleiman is a sublime talent making waves in Slovakia. He possesses the versatility to operate anywhere in midfield, as well as out wide, which aids how Thomas Frank wants to deploy his side with versatile profiles. Given how the current roster requires more tactically smart and high-technical players, he could be an interesting fit.

That being said, if he is coming in at N17, Tottenham will have a lot of work to do with him. At 19, Suleiman is still raw in several aspects of his game, which Frank and his coaching staff have to improve. But his ceiling is certainly to be a long‑term starter for a ‘top-six’ Premier League club, and if he does continue his development like he has done over the past year at Trencin, then the Nigerian international could enjoy a bright future at Spurs.
