Tottenham Hotspur have been trying to bring in another forward in the ongoing summer transfer window as Daniel Levy looks to hand Thomas Frank quality in his roster going into his first season in charge at Hotspur Way, and the 63-year-old club chairman has been looking to reunite the Dane head coach with Yoane Wissa given the pair’s success at Brentford.
But while the North Londoners have been a preferred destination if the French-born DR Congo international would move away from Gtech Community Stadium, the Lilywhites are not willing to meet the hefty over half a century of the king’s finest ask for his signatures. But now, in what will come as a massive boost to Spurs’ pursuit of his signatures, the Bees have lowered their financial ask for his signatures, with the Lilywhites in line to receive a £20m discount for his signature.
The latest report by Craig Hope of the Daily Mail suggests that there is an air of confidence at Newcastle United that a £30m offer can turn out to be enough to reach an agreement with Brentford and to pry away the 28-year-old’s services from Gtech Community Stadium. And this comes after David Ornstein reported on Monday that the Bees had rejected a £25m bid from Newcastle for Wissa.
Craig Hope noted:
“There is confidence among sources close to the deal that Yoane Wissa’s proposed move to Newcastle will progress
A fee in the region of £30m could be enough to reach agreement with Brentford.”
What is more interesting about the whole saga is that at the moment it appears like Tottenham are supposedly letting this one go despite having a long-standing interest in his signature complemented by Frank’s connection with Wissa. But let’s consider the fact that the North Londoners haven’t followed up their interest with a concrete offer, which may also be because Levy has already signed Mohammed Kudus this summer, and Thomas Frank did hint that Tottenham will not add another striker in the ongoing off-season.
Another interesting talk of the town is that there is a growing belief that Richarlison could end up getting another shot at rejuvenating his career at Hotspur Way after Frank described the Brazilian as “a good striker” last week, complemented by the reports that suggest the 27-year-old’s will to fight for his place at N18 despite massive money interest from Saudi Arabia.
At the moment, if nothing changes, Newcastle look increasingly likely to take Wissa to the North East this summer, given that he has already agreed on personal terms with the Magpies, and now as Wissa leaves the Bees training in Portugal, it looks like Brentford are preparing key talks with the player this week, and the North Londoners’ withdrawal from the race could be the final boost Newcastle need to get the deal done.
