Tottenham Hotspur chief Daniel Levy has adapted the recruitment strategy of investing in young, hungry talents and unlocking their potential across the N17 corridors over the last few years. The acquisitions of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are prime examples of that.
After a disastrous 2024/25 Premier League campaign, it will be interesting to see Daniel Levy’s approach in the transfer market. The Spurs chairman is likely to resolve Ange Postecoglou’s future before pursuing any new signings, as the Australian tactician remains uncertain to continue next season despite ending the club’s 17-year wait for silverware.
In addition, the club bosses will also need to sort out contract situation of several players. The North Londoners are filled with young talents who have been attracting interest from European clubs. One of them is Mikey Moore, who has emerged as a target for Borussia Dortmund in recent weeks.
The Bundesliga club perhaps have been attracted to the teenager following his breakout season in a Tottenham shirt. However, the club has no plans of letting him leave and are instead looking to reward him.
According to GIVEMESPORT chief correspondent Ben Jacobs, Mikey Moore is expected to stay at the club and sign a new contract later this summer. Spurs rate the Englishman very highly and are believed to be in advanced talks over an extension, with the 17-year-old’s current terms set to expire in June 2027 (Transfermarkt).
“Yeah, Mikey Moore will stay and extend, and that’s my understanding. I don’t know exactly when it’s going to be done, but talks have been very positive and can be referred to as advanced,” Ben Jacobs said on The Last Word On Spurs.
“And obviously we know Tottenham rate Mikey Moore extremely highly, so that one should be very smooth.
“I don’t think the player would be looking elsewhere anyway, very happy at Tottenham, regardless of the Ange situation.”
Moore apparently benefitted from an injury crisis at the club this past season, receiving regular opportunities from Ange. The explosive winger made 19 appearances across all competitions, netting a goal and supplying two assists. He should’ve enjoyed more action on the pitch, only for a bad virus to hamper his development and sideline him for around three months.
The teenage prodigy was a substitute against Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao last month, but his impact throughout Tottenham’s European journey cannot be forgotten. The Tottenham chiefs highly rate Moore and want to tie him down to a new, improved long-term deal and secure his future.
If the Lilywhites make some signings in the wide department, the club must look to loan Moore out for a season in the Championship to help further his development.
